Australia, headed by Pat Cummins, has seen a lot of ups and downs throughout the current ODI World Cup. Australia had a terrible tournament debut, losing to South Africa and India in their opening two games without recording a victory.
The Men in Yellow did, however, manage to win their following two matches and reclaim a spot in the top four of the standings. The performance of seasoned batter Steve Smith will be one of the team’s main worries as the competition continues. Smith appeared to be in the zone during the first game against India, but he has since struggled to make a major play.
Speaking about the same, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra suggested that Smith’s form would be a problem for the Australians and that his performances may be crucial if they hope to advance further in the competition.
“Australia has won two games, therefore they are now in the lead. They will again score 350 if they bat first because of the short size of the field. Steve Smith is runless so far. He has been a source of worry, therefore it would be interesting to see if runs come from his bat or not,” Aakash Chopra remarked in a video on his YouTube account.
