Aakash Chopra, a former Indian cricketer, has given his perspective on the impending match between Bangladesh and India in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. If the gifted Shreyas Iyer is healthy and ready, Aakash Chopra thinks India should think about putting him in the starting lineup.
Shreyas Iyer has been sidelined because of a back spasm ever since his performance against Pakistan earlier in the competition. He has been improving his abilities in the nets, though.
If Shreyas Iyer is healthy, I believe he should play. Fair enough, he practises a lot. He has the most experience and is working the hardest. If he is practising, I’m very sure his back spasms have subsided, Chopra remarked on his YouTube page.
A tactical change was also recommended by the former cricketer turned broadcaster, who advised that Shreyas Iyer replace one of the more experienced batsmen in India’s batting order.
You shouldn’t say anything to the little children in the house, in my opinion, because some individuals might become upset. The seniors should be asked to participate because they are more seasoned and will make adjustments later, he continued.
The elders have already manifested themselves: Aakash Chopra
Intriguingly, the former Indian opener also advocated resting both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for the match against Bangladesh in order to preserve his energy for the crucial final match against Sri Lanka in Colombo. Notably, Virat Kohli has 129 runs in three innings thus far in the competition.
“The elders have already manifested themselves. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma come to mind. Therefore, even though Virat Kohli hasn’t played much cricket in the entire month of August, I will urge him to rest if I have to play Shreyas Iyer, and I do believe he should, Aakash Chopra remarked on his YouTube channel.
