In the forthcoming IPL 2025, famous keeper-batter MS Dhoni is something that former cricketer Suresh Raina wishes to see remain as a member of the Chennai Super Kings. Dhoni declared that he would try to play one more season, but it would depend on how his body felt, following the 2023 edition of the competition, which CSK won by defeating Gujarat Titans on the final delivery.
The Ranchi-born cricketer has not said anything about his future ahead of the 2025 season. According to a number of media sources, the 43-year-old won’t make a decision until the BCCI makes the retention and RTM policy public prior to the next auction. As things stand, the IPL governing council is probably going to make their choice in the first week of September after finalising everything.
Suresh Raina still wants Dhoni to compete in the lucrative competition.
He mentioned how captivating Dhoni’s batting was in the previous championship and said Ruturaj Gaikwad needed more direction. “After watching MS Dhoni bat last year, I hope he plays in the IPL in 2025. Ruturaj Gaikwad deserves another year, in my opinion, given his captaincy style and the comments made following the Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeat. But Ruturaj did a fantastic job, Raina said.
Dhoni had earlier stated that he would answer a call if it served the team’s interests. The tournament’s top cricket player, who has participated in 264 games, has amassed 5243 runs at a strike percentage of 137.53. Dhoni batted in 11 innings in the 2024 edition, scoring 161 runs at an incredible strike rate of 220.54. He did not, however, assist the squad in making the playoffs.
In the meantime, Raina will play in the next Legends League Cricket match. Dinesh Karthik and Shikhar Dhawan, two of his former teammates, have entered the event this season. It is scheduled to start on September 20. Srinagar, Jammu, Jodhpur, and Surat will host the upcoming edition. In the forthcoming IPL 2025, famous keeper-batter MS Dhoni is something that former cricketer Suresh Raina wishes to see remain as a member of the Chennai Super Kings.
