For their three-match home series against Pakistan starting in the first week of November 2023, Bangladesh’s women’s ODI team has included youngster Sumaiya Akter and uncapped off-spinner Nishita Akter. November 4, 7, and 10 will see the three matches held at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.
At eighteen, Sumaiya is yet to play in a 50-over game and has only participated in one Twenty20 match; Nishita is only fifteen.
The current home ODI series squad against India, which ended in a 1-1 draw, only included seasoned all-rounder Lata Mondal. Sharmin Akter, Salma Khatun, and Shorifa Khatun have been designated as standbys.
The ICC Women’s Championship cycle for 2022–25 includes the three-game ODI series. With just one victory in nine games, Bangladesh is ranked ninth in the rankings. Having won six of their last 12 games, Pakistan is presently placed fourth despite having lost their previous two series against South Africa at home and Australia away. The Indian women’s team is also leading the standings after winning seven of the last nine games.
Bangladesh defeated Pakistan 2-1 in the Twenty20 International series earlier this week in Chattogram. The team captained by Nigar Sultana won the series after winning the first two matches but losing the third. The Player of the Series award went to Nahida Akter, a left-arm spinner who took eight wickets.
The Bangladesh Women ODI Squad is made up of the following players:
Fargana Hoque, Sobhana Mostary, Murshida Khatun, Shamima Sultana, Disha Biswas, Rabeya Khan, Ritu Moni, Sultana Khatun, Shorna Akter, Nahida Akter, Fahima Khatun, Marufa Akter, Sanjida Akther Meghla, Sumaiya Akter, and Nishita Akter.
