On Tuesday, September 5, the All India Senior Men’s Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled the 15-person roster for the keenly awaited 2023 ODI World Cup. The squad has been revealed, and fans are eager to see how India’s team will be divided up into teams for the high-profile event, the India Premier League (IPL). Notably, four Mumbai Indian (MI) players—Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah—make up the roster, making them the most players from a single franchise to represent the Men in Blue in the World Cup.
Three members of the Gujarat Titans (GT)—Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, and Mohammed Shami—come next. The 15-person team also includes two representatives from each of the following teams: Delhi Capitals (DC), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Only KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, players with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), respectively, have made the team. It is important to note that, with a few exceptions, the think tank kept the majority of the lineup from the Asia Cup team.
Only Prasidh Krishna and Tilak Varma will not be traveling with the team to the premier ICC event from the Asia Cup squad. Along with them, Sanju Samson, the wicketkeeper-batsman who was designated as the traveling reserve for the ACC event, is also left out of the 15-person lineup.
