At the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, the Bangladesh Premier League 2024 final saw Fortune Barishal defeat Comilla Victorians to win the championship on March 1. It was revealed long after the league’s tenth edition ended that the organizers had neglected to reimburse the foreign players for the money they owed.
The World Cricket Association (WCA) has recently informed the organizers to settle the outstanding balances owed to the concerned international players. For those who are unaware, the World Cricket Association (WCA) is a global organization that, through its domestic players’ association, represents players from the top cricket-playing nations. Additionally, the organization wrote a letter to the board urging them to settle the players’ unpaid bills.
Regarding the most recent BPL event, we received a large number of late and non-payment complaints, the most of which are still unresolved. According to, WCA CEO Tom Moffat stated, “This is a broader ongoing issue across our whole sport and it is disappointing these issues continue to be reported.”
“We continue to urge the game’s leadership to step in and ensure they are resolved and the players are paid what they are owed urgently,” he stated.
The eleventh edition will not include any of the three BPL franchises.
The BPL 2024 dues have not been paid, and over 15 cricket players have complained about this. The total money owed is roughly USD 250,000. Additionally, one of the BPL franchises that will not be competing in the upcoming edition owes around $100,000 USD.
The BPL will continue to be associated with teams like the Sylhet Strikers, Khulna Tigers, Rangpur Riders, and the current champion Fortune Barishal.
