WPL 2025: Gujarat Giants Women retained players, released players and purse remaining before of auction

The Gujarat Giants have taken some risks in the lead-up to the WPL 2025 mini-auction. With Sneh Rana, Kathryn Bryce, Trisha Poojitha, Veda Krishnamurthy, Tarannum Pathan, and Lea Tahuhu not kept, the team dropped some important players to save up cash after finishing last in both 2023 and 2024.

In the T20 World Cup 2024, Tuhuhu, 34, had a fantastic time. She took three wickets against India and bowled an economical stint against South Africa in the final, which the White Ferns won by 32 runs.

When Beth Mooney was missing, the all-rounder led the squad in the inaugural edition, therefore Gujarat’s decision to release Rana was unexpected. Additionally, Veda Krishnamurthy, a senior batter, was discharged. She scored 22 runs while playing in just four games for the team.

However, the franchise has retained its core international cast, which includes Ashley Gardner, Phoebe Litchfield, Laura Wolvaardt, and Mooney. To contend for the crown, they will need to add talented Indian players to their core of international players.
