The 32nd game of the BBL 2023–2024 will be played on Wednesday, January 10, at The Gabba in Brisbane between Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers HEA vs SCO. Heat have already secured a postseason berth after winning six of their last eight games. They occupy the first spot in the points rankings. With five victories in seven games, Scorchers are ranked second.

The Hobart Hurricanes and the Heat recently faced off; the Hurricanes won the toss and chose to bowl. Brisbane Heat encountered difficulties early on as they lost their first wicket in the sixth over after scoring just 35 runs. Colin Munro was the star of the show, scoring 56 runs off just 47 deliveries, but a number of hitters failed to get off to a strong start. The Heat scored 132 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allocated 20 overs, thanks in large part to Munro’s effort.

Chris Jordan, who bowled exceptionally well for the Hurricanes, was named the pick of the bowlers. Jordan’s four overs yielded 19 runs, but he also claimed three vital wickets. The Hurricanes’ bowling assault was made more effective by Nathan Ellis, who took two wickets, Patrick Dooley, and Nikhil Chaudhary, who each took one wicket.

After the first innings was cut down to 16 overs, the Hurricanes were left with a revised target of 118 runs to win. But they suffered severe losses; by the ninth over, they had only amassed 56 runs and had lost half of their wickets. After scoring 55 runs off of 37 deliveries, Nikhil Chaudhary emerged as the Hurricanes’ top scorer. The Hurricanes made a great effort but were unable to win; they scored 116 runs at a cost of nine wickets. Xavier Bartlett was the most successful bowler in the contest, claiming three wickets in his four-over period while allowing thirty runs. Brisbane Heat won by a slim margin of one run at the end of the match.

In their most recent game against Sydney Thunder, Scrochers won the toss and decided to bowl. In the seventh over, Cameron Bancroft cost Thunder their first wicket for 35 runs. After losing their second wicket for 88 runs, they started losing wickets one after the other. For barely twenty runs, Thunder lost the next five wickets. Alex Hales led the squad in batting scoring with 72 runs off of 55 deliveries, making him the standout performer.

Thunder needed 20 overs to score 137 runs at the expense of eight wickets. Among the bowlers, Cooper Connolly was the best; in four overs, he claimed three wickets for 25 runs. In four overs, including a maiden over, Ashton Agar claimed two wickets for six runs.

Sam Whiteman and Zak Crawley gave the Scorchers a strong start by scoring 43 runs together for the first wicket. With 56 deliveries, Crawley scored 58 runs and struck eight fours. With seven wickets remaining, the Scorchers managed to reach the 138-run mark in 19.1 overs. Chris Green claimed one wicket for 22 runs for the Thunder, while Nathan McAndrew claimed two wickets for 27 runs in four overs.
