The Delhi Capitals are searching for a suitable replacement after confirming former Australia captain Ricky Ponting’s departure as the team’s head coach. DC is apparently considering Yuvraj Singh to be their next head coach, with Sourav Ganguly currently a member of the team’s support staff.
Yuvraj Singh had previously been connected to a transfer to the Gujarat Titans.
The former cricket player hopes to emulate Ashish Nehra for GT, and DC is eager to have him join their support team despite his lack of coaching expertise.
Yuvraj Singh, regarded by many as the best white-ball cricketer to have ever come out of India, was a mainstay of Indian cricket, having participated in up to 40 Tests, 304 ODIs, and 58 T20Is during his career. In his best moments, Yuvraj was unmatched.
Despite not having coached before, Yuvraj has improved and elevated the play of players like Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, and a few more.
The Delhi Capitals are yet to win an IPL championship.
The Delhi Capitals are still chasing their first IPL championship under Rishabh Pant’s direction. It goes without saying that although the team has been close a few times, they have never won the championship. The Capitals failed to go past the first round of the competition in the IPL 2024.
Despite having a number of talents at their disposal, DC won seven games and lost exactly as many of the 14 games they played to finish in sixth place in the standings. The Capitals finished with 14 points, however their net run rate prevented them from making the playoffs because Royal Challengers Bengaluru made an incredible comeback during the group rounds.
