The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed a female auctioneer to conduct the auction, which is slated to begin on Monday, February 13, at 2.30 PM IST, ahead of the eagerly anticipated debut of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
The auction will be conducted on Monday, according to Cricbuzz, by Malika Advani, a partner in the firm Art India Consultants and a Mumbai-based art consultant for Modern and Contemporary Indian art. Hugh Edmeades, Charu Sharma, and Richard Madley have all participated in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction in the past.
According to Cricbuzz, the BCCI will have a pre-auction meeting for the franchisees on Sunday, February 12 at 8 p.m. Additionally, the board has announced that there would be hourly strategy breaks during the auction. Franchises will be given 10 minutes at regular times to review their strategies.
“There may (at the Auctioneer’s discretion) be a brief intermission following the completion of each set to give franchises some opportunity to rethink their strategies. The BCCI notice was quoted by Cricbuzz as saying, “The length of each break will be declared by the Auctioneer at the completion of the relevant set.
“After each break, a bell will sound two minutes before the Player Auction resumes. After each break, the Player Auction will immediately resume. It is envisaged that during each hour of the Player Auction proceedings, these brief breaks would last a minimum of 10 minutes “The BCCI note came to an end.
The auction for 409 players will take place on February 13th.
A total of 409 players were cut from the list of 1,525 cricketers who had registered for the auction in the weeks leading up to the big day. There are 246 Indians participating in the auction, compared to 163 participants from other countries, eight of which are from partner countries.
Additionally, the teams can have between 15 and 18 players total to make up the team. Each club is permitted to include up to six foreign players. The competition will be played at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai from March 4 and March 26.
