Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore Women squared off in the 13th match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2024), which took place at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. The Gujarat Giants won the game handily, defeating RCB by 19 runs to record their first tournament victory.
After deciding to bat first, Laura Wolvaardt and captain Beth Mooney of Gujarat put on an impressive first-wicket partnership of 140 runs in 13 overs. Despite the unfortunate run-out that ended Wolvaardt’s magnificent 76-run knock, Mooney continued her incredible performance and finished undefeated at 85 off 51 balls.
With wickets dropping often, RCB found it difficult to reach 200 runs. Georgia Wareham’s innings of 48 off 22 balls were impressive, but RCB lost by 19 runs, allowing the Gujarat Giants to win the 2024 Women’s Premier League.
