WPL 2023: Harmanpreet Kaur selected Mumbai Indians captain

The Mumbai Indians have named Harmanpreet Kaur as their captain for the inaugural season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), which begins on March 4.

When the WPL begins, the Mumbai Indians will be hoping that Kaur can have a same influence as she did as captain of the Indian squad. The 33-year-old has scored 3058 runs in 151 T20Is and is one of the top cricket players in the world. She was the third-most expensive player for the MI franchise after being acquired for INR 1.8 crore.
On March 4, the Mumbai Indians will face the Gujarat Giants in the opening match of their tournament at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. MI has a plenty of talent, including Nat Sciver-Brun, Hayley Matthews, and Amelia Kerr, among others, and it will be intriguing to see how they line up against Gujarat.
We are thrilled that Harmanpreet is the captain: Nita Ambani
Nita Ambani, the owner of MI, shared her sentiments upon Kaur’s nomination as captain. “We are happy to have Harmanpreet as the captain of the first-ever women’s cricket team for the Mumbai Indians. She has guided the Indian Women’s team to some of their most exhilarating victories as the national captain. And I am confident that with Charlotte and Jhulan’s support, she will motivate our MI women’s cricket team to perform their best, exhibit a feeling of pride, and bring even more glory to women in sports “She stated in a statement.

“We are really anticipating the beginning of this new chapter for MI! Our fans like the brave and lively MI style of cricket, which I can’t wait to watch our women play. Best of luck to Harmanpreet and the entire MI team on their next exciting trip! “She continued.
