Sanjay Bangar a former Indian batting coach, has unveiled his 15-player roster for the forthcoming ODI World Cup in 2023. Bangar’s selections stand out amid the excitement surrounding India’s lineup, particularly his choice to pick the relatively untested left-arm bowler Arshdeep Singh while leaving out all-arounder Shardul Thakur.
The World Cup, which is set to take place in India from October 5 to November 19, is drawing closer, and the buzz surrounding team selections has been a hot topic. India will compete in the Asia Cup prior to the main event, and according to BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar, the World Cup lineup will be very similar to that for the Asia Cup.
Sanjay Bangar revealed his preferred 15-person team.
Five specialist hitters, two wicketkeeper-batters, two all-round spinners, one all-round pacer, one specialist spinner, and four fast bowlers make up his team for the major tournament.
According to Bangar, his specialized batters are Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Suryakumar Yadav, while his wicket-keeper batters include Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul. “Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja, both left-armers, are my top choices for all-around spin bowlers. Hardik Pandya is an all-around fast bowler, and Kuldeep Yadav is a specialist spinner.
“The four fast bowlers would be Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, and Arshdeep Singh,” Bangar said in his conclusion.Arshdeep’s inclusion, however, surprised a lot of people. The youthful left-armer may appear to have little experience given that he has only played in three ODIs. Arshdeep’s selection demonstrates Bangar’s belief in the player’s potential since he was unexpectedly excluded from India’s Asia Cup roster. Arshdeep has a promising T20I record despite his inexperience in ODIs, with 50 wickets in 33 matches, an average of 18.98, and an economy rate of 8.48.
