From October 3 to 20, Bangladesh will host the ninth edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, which will be officiated by ten umpires and three match referees.
The seasoned panel of umpires includes Claire Polosak, who will be officiating in her fifth ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, as well as Kim Cotton and Jacqueline Williams, who will be officiating in their fourth after officiating the final between hosts South Africa and eventual winners Australia in Cape Town last February.
Sue Redfern, the TV umpire for that championship game, is returning for her fourth tournament stint. On the opposite end of the scale, Zimbabwe’s Sarah Dambanevana will make her first appearance.
GS Lakshmi is a member of the match referees squad. She officiated her first Twenty20 international match in 2012 and the final in 2023. Michell Pereira and Shandre Fritz, who are also officiating in their second ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, are joining her.
Sean Easey, Senior Manager of the ICC for Umpires and Referees, stated: “The ICC is proud to be contributing to the advancement of women in our sport.” It is amazing to be able to announce an all-female match official lineup for the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Because of their recent success in bilateral and other forms of cricket, this group was chosen as the most deserving umpires for this event. They are among the finest in the world.
“At this occasion, we have no doubts about their brilliant performance. In what promises to be a thrilling competition for all concerned, I wish them well as they manage the best women’s cricket players in the world.
