During the third and final Twenty20 International match of the series against Sri Lanka, star Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav rewrote the history books. He became the fastest player to reach 1,500 runs in the shortest format in terms of balls taken by scoring his third century without being defeated in a Twenty20 International.
The fastest of all players to attain this landmark in Twenty20 International cricket was Suryakumar Yadav, who did it in only 843 balls.
In terms of innings played, he is the third-fastest player to achieve the 1,500-run mark in Twenty20 Internationals.
It took the Indian batters Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, the Australian veteran Aaron Finch, and the Pakistan skipper Babar Azam 39 innings to reach the milestone of 1,500 runs scored in T20 Internationals. These four hitters are the fastest to reach the benchmark.
Both Mohammed Rizwan, the wicketkeeper-batter for Pakistan, and Suryakumar, the batter for Sri Lanka, hit the milestone in 43 of their respective 42 innings.
Additionally, Suryakumar Yadav is the very first player in the history of the sport to achieve the benchmark with a strike rate of 150 or higher.
He has played in 45 matches and has had 43 innings, and he has scored 1,578 runs at a 46.41 run average. His top individual score in the format is 117, and he has a strike rate of 180.34 runs per hundred balls faced. He has three century and 13 half-centuries.
It took Suryakumar just 45 balls to reach his third century in the shortest version of the game, making it the second-fastest century ever scored by an Indian hitter in a Twenty20 International (T20I).
Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian team, scored a century against Sri Lanka in a Twenty20 International in 2017. He did so in a record-setting 35 balls.
In Twenty20 Internationals, Suryakumar has now now amassed the joint second-highest number of centuries. The record for most T20I hundreds is held by Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who has four.
After him comes Suryakumar Yadav, Glenn Maxwell of Australia, and Colin Munro of New Zealand, all of whom have scored three centuries each. He is followed by these batsmen.
India has now won the three-match Twenty20 International series by a 2-1 margin thanks to this victory.
