Will Jacks, an English star, will miss the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) because he hurt a muscle. The cricket player from Surrey was bought at auction for INR 3.2 crore as a replacement for Glenn Maxwell, who broke his leg right after the last Big Bash League.
Now that Jacks can’t play, the Royal Challengers Bangalore have said that Michael Bracewell will take his place. The team has been talking with the New Zealand international for a long time. As of now, Bracewell has signed his contract for a base price of INR 1 crore and will soon join the team to start preparing for the high-paying league.
The 32-year-old has never played in the IPL, and the last mini-auction didn’t sell him. In the shortest version of the game, he has played 117 games and scored 2284 runs at a strike rate of 133.48.
RCB will start the 2023 IPL season on April 2.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will play their first game in Chinnaswamy Stadium in almost four years. Preparations have already begun. On April 2, the team led by Faf du Plessis will play their first game of the season against the five-time champion Mumbai Indians.
The team has added seven new players before the start of the new season. England fast bowler Recee Topley is hurt right now, but it is likely that he will get better soon and join the team in Bangalore. On the other hand, people are also looking at what will happen to Josh Hazlewood. The Australian pacer is hurt right now, so he couldn’t play in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which just ended.
He is currently in Australia, and a decision will soon be made about his health. There are concerns that the pacer might miss the tournament to stay healthy for the World Test Championship final and the upcoming Ashes.
Glenn Maxwell, on the other hand, has fully recovered and will be able to play the whole tournament. After the India series, he will join the team along with Virat Kohli and Mohammad Siraj.
