Notably, the 15-member team that will compete in the premier ICC event was revealed by the All-India Senior Men’s Selection Committee. Instead of making too many changes for the high-profile event, the think tank elected to keep the Asia Cup core squad.
Notable players, including Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Shikhar Dhawan, among others, could not succeed in getting a spot in the setup. In addition, Prasidh Krishna and Tilak Varma, who were both on the Indian team for the ACC competition, won’t be competing in the World Cup.
Shikhar Dhawan had already posted on his ‘X’ account to express his happiness with the team and to wish them luck for the big event.
“Congratulations to my teammates and friends who were selected to represent India in the WC 2023 competition! You carry our aspirations and dreams, and 1.5 billion people are praying for you. I hope you’ll bring the trophy back and represent us well! Team India, go all out! Dhawan posted the hashtags “#ChakDePhatte #WorldCup” on his ‘X’ account.
