The West Indies and the United States will serve as the hosts of the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place from June 4–30. The T20 World Cup will be in its ninth edition this year. Twenty teams in all will take part in the competition.
18 teams—Australia, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ireland, Scotland, West Indies, USA, PNG, Canada, Nepal, and Oman—have already qualified for the competition thus far.
Since it will be the first time matches are played on American territory, this tournament edition is anticipated to be a historic one in the history of cricket’s global expansion.
The United States and the West Indies will co-host the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced in November 2021. After two years of careful planning, USA Cricket and Cricket West Indies were able to successfully bid for the hosting rights, leading to this decision. According to the ICC, this strategic alliance will help the USA become more well-known around the world of cricket.
In 2024, Nepal and Oman will compete in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Nepal and Oman have qualified for the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup after winning the Asia area qualifiers.
Oman’s victory over Bahrain was especially noteworthy because they dominated the game and won by ten wickets. Aqib Ilyas was instrumental, limiting Bahrain’s batting ability with four wickets at a cost of just ten runs. The goal was then effectively chased down in less than six overs by openers Kashyap Prajapati and Pratik Athavale.
Nepal prevailed by eight wickets in their semi-final despite the UAE posing a formidable challenge. With frugal periods from spinners Kushal Malla and Sandeep Lamichhane, the UAE was restricted to 134 for 9. With an undefeated innings of 63, Aasif Sheikh cemented the victory for Nepal and guaranteed their spot in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
18 teams are now guaranteed spots in the tournament after Nepal and Oman qualified. The Africa qualifier, which takes place at the end of the month, will determine the final two berths.
