On June 12, 2023, the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is scheduled to commence. The tournament will last precisely one month, with the championship scheduled for July 12. A total of eight teams will compete against one another in a round-robin format prior to the elimination rounds.
In a format very similar to that of the Indian Premier League (IPL), as many as 32 games, including the knockout rounds, will be contested throughout the tournament. At the conclusion of the league stage, the top four teams will advance to the semifinals, where they will compete in Qualifier 1, Eliminator, Qualifier 2, and the Final.
The best two teams will compete in Qualifier 1, with the winner advancing to the championship match and the loser advancing to Qualifier 2. The eliminator will pit the third- and fourth-placed teams against one another, and the winner will compete in the second qualifier for a berth in the TNPL 2023 championship match.
Both the Lyca Kovai Kings and the Chepauk Super Gillies were designated co-champions after the TNPL 2022 championship match was abandoned due to rain.
