What the World Thought of Shubman Gill’s First International Century

Fans and veteran cricketers alike were thrilled to see the bright youngster establish himself in the Indian side, and they hailed Gill’s achievement as a result of their joy at seeing him do so.

The lengthy wait for Shubman Gill to achieve his first international century came to an end as he reached the three-figure mark during the third one-day international that is currently being played against Zimbabwe in Harare.

In the past, Gill has scored in the 90s on a few occasions in both tests and one-day internationals, but he has not yet scored a century in either format. On Monday, he was not going to be denied, and he played a variety of strokes to push the inexperienced bowling attack that Zimbabwe had into submission. He was successful.

Fans and veteran cricketers alike were thrilled to see the bright youngster establish himself in the Indian side, and they hailed Gill’s achievement as a result of their joy at seeing him do so.

After scoring his first century in international competition, Gill received the following responses on Twitter:

Shubman Gill’s first One-Day International and his hundredth international run. Only 82 balls are needed for him to complete his first Ton. Against Zimbabwe, he played an outstanding innings, scoring 100 runs off 82 balls, including 12 fours. A first-rate hundred from a player of prominence.

We had been expecting it all along! The first international tonne for Shubman Gill, and it was a fantastic one at that! Plenty more to come no doubt.
