Quinton de Kock, the wicketkeeper for South Africa, displayed his lightning-fast reflexes and cricket knowledge during the final of the Twenty20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. He ran out Axar Patel of India at a critical juncture. After winning the toss, India chose to bat first to start the encounter.
At 34/3, the Indian innings was off to a rough start as the team found itself in precarious situations. India was left reeling by the loss of important wickets, like as skipper Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, and Suryakumar Yadav. Patel was tasked with steadying the ship when he joined Virat Kohli at the crease in this particular circumstance.
But just as India appeared to be winning, a flash of genius from de Kock altered the destiny of the match. India was at 106/3 in the fourteenth over when Kohli tried to flick off Kagiso Rabada’s bowling with his legs. Alert as always, De Kock collected the ball behind the stumps and quickly aimed for the non-striker’s end.
As the ball struck the stumps and veered towards the long-off boundary, the Proteas team as a whole called for a run-out. Patel, who had originally gone for a single, got lost in the commotion and ended up stuck in mid-pitch. With his back to Patel, Kohli failed to notice his partner’s whereabouts, giving Patel no opportunity to return to the crease.

Important 72-run stand is stitched by Axar Patel-Kohli.
Axar Patel ended his crucial 47-run innings when he was dismissed because to De Kock’s lightning-fast thinking and exquisite precision. India was reduced to 106/4 as this wicket dealt a serious blow to their momentum.
India had another opportunity to reach a manageable total as Patel and Kohli put together a crucial 72-run partnership that progressively shifted the balance in their favour. With a rapid 47 off just 31 deliveries and four sixes and one boundary to cap off his knock, Patel in particular was instrumental.
