Officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have given statements that are at odds with one another about the question of which country will play host to the Asia Cup in 2023.
The rights to host the continental event had already been handed up to Pakistan. Then BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who is also the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), stated that the Indian cricket team will not be travelling to Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup. Jay Shah is also the president of the ACC.
In response to this, previous PCB chairman Ramiz Raja had issued a warning to the BCCI that their decision might have major repercussions, including the possibility that Pakistan will withdraw from the ODI World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in India in 2023.
Najam Sethi, who is the current chairman of the PCB, disclosed the date of an ACC meeting not too long ago; it will take place on February 4 in Bahrain. “At long last, we have been able to schedule a meeting with representatives from the ACC.
I will be in Bahrain on February 4 to participate in the ACC meeting. For the time being, I do not have a firm opinion regarding our stance; as a result, I am keeping this information close to my chest until the meeting. Pakistan is making remarkable strides. Wasim Akram praised Sethi’s stance and made a remark that was critical of Raja.
“The response that Najam Sethi provided was full of common sense. Everything is contingent on receiving authorization from both governments. You have to conduct yourself appropriately [when working with boards].

Additionally, Akram offered his thoughts on the removal of Raja as chairman of the PCB.
“He arrived for a total of six days, and at this point he has returned to his home. Najam Sethi is a seasoned professional. The idea that players should run the Pakistan Cricket Board as chairman is one that I do not support.
Because it is an administrative position, it is essential that you maintain open lines of contact with each of the boards. Najam Sethi is the most qualified individual for this position. It makes no difference to me if other people are upset, “Akram added.
