In the practise nets preceding the third one-day international match between India and Bangladesh, head coach Rahul Dravid was observed providing young India all-rounder Washington Sundar with instruction on the finer points of batting.
India is currently down 0-2 in the series against Bangladesh and has a long list of injured players. If Bangladesh wins the series, it will be the first time India has ever been swept.
It is possible to see Dravid shadow batting left-handed in the video in order to provide an explanation for the front foot drive through the covers as well as a shot played square of the wicket on the off side.
Later on in the nets, Washington Sundar can be seen attempting the same shots as earlier.
As India gets ready to host the ICC World Cup in the latter half of 2019, Sundar is one of the most important players on the national team.
The beginning of the preparations have not gone as well as India had hoped, as they have been defeated by Bangladesh in their last two matches in a row.
India needs its lower order batters to perform well with the bat, and Dravid and the other support staff members are working to help enhance this area as one of the areas they are focusing on improving.
In the wake of Ravindra Jadeja’s injury, Sundar has an excellent opportunity to step up and demonstrate his worth.
