In their forthcoming three-match T20I series, which is due to start on Friday, August 18, Team India and Ireland are prepared to square off. In light of recent happenings, it appears like VVS Laxman, the leader of the coaching staff, won’t be traveling with the Indian squad to Dublin for the series. The Indian team will leave for Dublin on August 15.
VVS Laxman was expected to travel with team India as they made their way to Ireland for the three-match series, but they were without their head coach Rahul Dravid and the majority of the coaching staff because of the ongoing T20I series between the West Indies and India in the USA.
However, a recent adjustment to the designs indicates that this won’t be the case. Support staff members Sitanshu Kotak and Sairaj Bahutule will be accompanying the side in the series in place of Laxman.
Against Ireland, India will be led by Jasprit Bumrah.
The Indian team going to Ireland for the T20I series was just revealed by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). It was revealed that renowned bowler Jasprit Bumrah would captain the team in Dublin.
Bumrah has been out of the running for selection for a while. The 29-year-old had a stress fracture in his lower back in 2022 and missed most of the competitions, including the World Test Championship, the T20 World Cup, the Border Gavaskar Trophy, the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), and the Asia Cup.
The 50-over Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup 2023 are both coming up, so his return to cricket would be fantastic news for team India. Bumrah would considerably increase India’s pool of outstanding pacers.
As the leader of the speed attack, Bumrah’s selection to the World Cup roster might be very beneficial for team India. Given that the Rohit Sharma-led team will begin their World Cup campaign against Australia in Chennai, it will be interesting to see how Bumrah’s selection will affect them in the major competition.
