The match between India and Pakistan, longtime rivals, in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 will live on forever in cricket history. In the midst of suspenseful moments during the game at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Virat Kohli masterminded an incredible chase that cemented his reputation in the hearts of millions of people.
When they batted first, Pakistan set a lofty goal of 160 runs. The early wicket loss, however, left India reeling at 31/4 in the seventh over, giving the Pakistani bowlers hope.
In the midst of all this turmoil, however, Virat Kohli led India through with an undefeated 82 off 53 balls, pulling his team out of difficulty.
When Mohammad Nawaz was forced to defend 16 runs in the final over, the action came to a head. Though Kohli put out a heroic effort in the first few deliveries, India’s spectacular finish saw Pakistan’s hopes dashed. Nawaz’s defeat was obvious to him, reminding him of previous heartaches under similar conditions.
When Mohammad Nawaz finally speaks, he says, “You are trying to hurt me again.”
Nawaz acknowledged the bitterness of that loss in an interview with Cricbuzz. “You are trying to hurt me again,” he murmured. That fight in that game was excellent and exciting, and it seems that it turned out to be my strength because when you go through such an experience, you can adjust better when you come up against a similar scenario. That huge match where everyone is watching you.”
“Let’s face it, Kohli is the world’s greatest player. And the reason he is the finest player in the world, as demonstrated in that match, given the circumstances, where losing four wickets in 40 runs and the manner in which our three fast bowlers were bowling allowed only him to win the match,” Nawaz continued.
He took solace in the priceless lessons he had gained from the MCG game. Because of the experience, he can now think more clearly and respond promptly and composedly in challenging situations. He also praised Kohli’s innings and said that he played a key role in helping India win.
