The event brought joy to cricket enthusiasts all around India. In March 2024, during an IPL match, arch-rivals Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir, who had been involved in multiple furious on-field altercations over the years, exchanged a passionate embrace. The audience, according to Kohli, is let down that the drama between the two Delhi mainstays is no longer going on.
The event happened during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders. During a strategic stoppage, Kohli and Gambhir—who is presently KKR’s mentor—shared an embrace and were spotted chatting. This occurred almost a year after the two got into a nasty verbal altercation after an RCB vs. Lucknow Super Giants game in 2023. During a recent Asian Paints event, Kohli talked about the experience he had with Gambhir.
“Mere conduct se naa log bahut dissapointed ho gaye hai. Uss din Gauti (Gautam Gambhir) bhai ne aake mere ko jhappi daal di, toh matlab tumhara masala khatam ho gaya toh ab, ke saath maine jhappi daal di naveen (Ul Haq). “Yaar, abey bacche thodi naa hai,” he uttered. (People find my behavior disappointing. That day, I gave a hug to Naveen [ul-Haq], and Gauti bhai gave me one as well. Thus, their masala has been lost.

Currently, the IPL 2024’s top run scorer is Virat Kohli.
During the 2023 ODI World Cup, Kohli had already made amends with Afghanistan pacer Naveen ul-Haq, who disclosed that the Indian batter had started the conversation to settle their grievances.
This IPL season, Kohli has been in incredible form, collecting 316 runs so far to lead the most runs standings while RCB has battled to find their footing. Although his unbroken 83 against KKR was insufficient to win, his exchange with Gambhir turned out to be the game’s high point.
