One of the best hitters of this generation is without a doubt Virat Kohli, the star batsman for India. Throughout his career, Kohli has frequently been compared to the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Many have even continued to argue over the years about who is a better batter between Tendulkar and Kohli.
It appears that Kohli has spent his entire life trying to break the record of 100 career hundreds. Kohli appears poised to add yet another feather to his crown, though. It is noteworthy that Tendulkar is the quickest batter to reach the 27,000-run threshold, having played 591 innings in his career.
Virat Kohli is getting very close to reaching the 27,000-run milestone.
If Kohli can score 58 runs in his next eight innings, he will become the fastest batter to reach the milestone and the only player in the last 147 years of international cricket history to reach the mark in 600 innings. It’s interesting to note that it took Tendulkar 623 innings (226 Test innings, 396 ODI innings, and 1 T20I innings) to score 27,000 runs.
Only a few other batters, including Kumar Sangakkara and Ricky Ponting, have amassed 27,000 runs in their careers. It is important to note that India will shortly play Bangladesh in a multi-format series.

The two teams will face off in two Test matches, the first of which is scheduled to begin on September 19 in Chennai. In the next two Tests, Kohli may break Tendulkar’s record and add another outstanding record to his seemingly never-ending list if he can reach 58 runs. India and Bangladesh will play each other in the second Test in Kanpur following the first Test in Chennai. Three Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) between the two teams will conclude the series.
