In his opening remarks, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh expressed his opinion that star player Virat Kohli ought to assume leadership of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the upcoming IPL 2024 editions. RCB was on the verge of elimination after winning just one of their first seven games in 2024. However, they have since turned things around, but a spot in the qualifiers is still up for grabs.
Even if RCB advances to the qualifying round, a major revamp could occur before the huge auction the following year. In light of this, Harbhajan stated that the team requires an Indian leader and that Kohli ought to reclaim leadership of the team. The well-known player known as “Bhajji” used MS Dhoni as an example and feels that Kohli has a similar aura that can motivate RCB to play better.
“They should look to get some Indian guy if they don’t qualify.” Why not make Virat Kohli the captain again? Because Virat Kohli is a strong leader and understands the style of cricket they need to play, Dhoni has a great deal of influence in Chennai. Virat Kohli provides that, and they are playing with a lot of aggression and determination right now.
Going ahead, I want Virat Kohli to be the team’s captain,” Harbhajan Singh stated on Star Sports.
In the meantime, Kohli enjoyed another fantastic season at bat. The 35-year-old is the tournament’s top run scorer with 661 runs at a strike rate of 155.16 over 13 games played thus far.

On the other hand, with 12 points from 13 games, RCB currently sits fifth in the standings. The team captained by Faf du Plessis must defeat the Chennai Super Kings in their final league game of the season in order to advance to the playoffs. They also need to watch out for the Delhi Capitals, Lucknow Super Giants, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
