The Asia Cup 2023’s Super Four stage included a high-stakes match between India and Pakistan that was frequently interrupted by rain. The game had to be moved to the reserve day because of the rain’s mischievous interference. All would agree, however, that the field personnel at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo performed an excellent job of maintaining the ground dry and getting it ready for play after the rain stopped.
In keeping with the same theme, the star Indian batsman Virat Kohli spoke up to commend the work that the grounds crew put in over the course of two days to keep play going for both teams. It is important to note that every over on reserve day was played because of the ground staff’s dedication and labour.
“A big thank you to the groundskeepers for all the effort they put in to make this game possible. They performed an amazing job, Virat Kohli stated during the post-game awards ceremony as he accepted the Player of the Match honour.
They have our team’s gratitude: Rohit Sharma
Taking the stage, Indian captain Rohit Sharma praised the ground personnel for their work in keeping the pitch and surface in good condition. The players were able to get some much-needed game time, according to Rohit’s opinion, and he even complimented the ground staff for their efforts.
“We appreciate the opportunity to play. Many of the guys did not have game time, and the groundskeeper was quite helpful in that regard. They hit the mark right out of the gate. I am aware of how difficult it was to come in and complete the work the following day. As a team, we want to thank them,” Sharma stated during the post-game presentation.
“Getting some game time was crucial. The effort put forth by these guys made it more likely, he continued.
