The USA men’s team has appointed former Andhra cricket player Vincent Vinay Kumar as their new assistant coach. In relation to the news that the 54-year-old will be supporting Stuart Law on the forthcoming tour to the Netherlands, Kumar expressed his excitement and readiness to contribute to the development of USA cricket.
The USA beat Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2024, and under Monank Patel‘s leadership, they advanced to the Super Eights. Kumar stated that the group has made great progress and can perhaps defeat other elite teams in the future.
Regarding his responsibilities, Vinay said he would try to give them the proper mentality so they can go on to win against strong teams and become more constant.
“I’m thrilled to have been given the chance to work with Stuart Law as a member of the US team’s coaching staff. “It will be different because the US team after the World Cup had shown signs of proving they can beat good sides,” stated 54-year-old Vincent, who previously advised the USA’s batting lineup during their training in Bengaluru prior to the 2023 ICC World Cup qualifying play-offs in Namibia.
Vinay”I will be playing a good part to ensure their mindset is right to believe they can repeat beating big sides and be more consistent in their performance at this stage.”
Additionally, Kumar stated that more matches spanning a range of age groups have been organised, indicating the growth of cricket in the USA. A big part of that is Major League Cricket (MLC), and more growth is anticipated in the future. In addition, he disclosed that the senior men’s team’s senior body intends to play more games.
