Regarding the game he has spent his entire life serving, Venkatesh Prasad has always been outspoken in his opinions. The former speedster used his social media account once more to share his thoughts about the performance of the Indian cricket team in 2023. Having won titles for India, Prasad, who was born in Karnataka, expressed his desire for the team to perform better in 2024 in his article.
As per Venkatesh Prasad, the year 2023 commenced with immense optimism since India was the overwhelming favorite to win three major International Cricket Council championships. India first lost the Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa before the men’s squad suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Australia in the World Test Championship final. Last but not least, India advanced through all of the ODI World Cup matches before facing the Pat Cummins-led team in Ahmedabad for the championship.
For Team India, it has been a year of “what could have been.” They dominated the World Cup but suffered greatly on the day that mattered in the finals. Additionally, they lost the WTC finals. In each of these contests, Travis Head was outstanding. I hope that in the upcoming year, India begins to win championships, something that has eluded them for almost ten years. “I wish Team India all the best in the upcoming year and beyond,” Prasad posted on X.
It’s been a year of “What could have been” for Team India.
Dominated the World Cup only to have a very bad day when it mattered in the finals.
Lost the WTC finals as well. Travis Head was brilliant in both these games.
Hope in the coming year, India starts winning Championships…— Venkatesh Prasad (@venkateshprasad) December 30, 2023
Despite the fact that the Rohit Sharma-led team did win the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, Prasad was heartbroken by the team’s defeats in ICC competitions. The 54-year-old was all praise for Travis Head, who performed admirably in both the World Cup and the WTC final. According to Venkatesh Prasad, the Indian squad lost control of the game when it counted most. The T20 World Cup, which is slated to take place in the USA and the West Indies, would thereafter see India play. Prasad urges the team to put their best foot forward in order to win important competitions.
