After a good season with Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League 2024, Venkatesh Iyer is currently playing for Lancashire in the United Kingdom. Iyer had to decide between the great Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni during the Club’s “This or That” section. But the southpaw chose Dhoni over Tendulkar after a short hesitation.
Iyer has played for the Indian side in two One-Day Internationals and nine Twenty20 Internationals since joining the KKR camp in 2021. Returning to the segment, he selected England’s Phil Salt ahead of Chris Gayle and, against the legendary Tendulkar, he even allowed Virat Kohli to surpass Dhoni before settling on the veteran’s name.
Here’s the video of Iyer’s fun segment:

In domestic cricket, Venkatesh Iyer is struggling with form.
For KKR in the 2024 Indian Premier League, the all-around player amassed 370 runs at an average of 46.25 in 13 innings, with four scores of fifty or more. In addition, his striking percentage of 158.79 was quite good. However, the Madhya Pradesh batter has not performed well lately for Lancashire. In five One-Day Cup matches, he has taken three wickets and scored just 78 runs while playing for the club.

After playing for Lancashire, the opening batter is scheduled to return to India; sadly, he was unable to participate in the Duleep Trophy. The batter only managed 182 runs from 12 innings in the domestic tournament’s 2022 season. However, in the IPL 2021 the year prior, he shone with 370 runs at an average of 41.11 in 10 games, earning him a call-up for the Indian team.
