Varun Chakravarthy, a KKR spinner, is back to his utmost form after picking up 17 wickets in 11 games so far in the IPL 2023. The 31-year-old picked up three significant wickets—Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma, and Rishi Dhawan—in Kolkata Knight Riders’ most recent game against Punjab Kings, aiding the home team in holding the Shikhar Dhawan-led club to fewer than 180 runs.
The Karnataka-born cricketer noted that he is trying to keep things simple and is utilizing three variations to confuse the batters when discussing his performances thus far this season. As the bowler is now in sixth place for the IPL Purple Cap race, the spinner also complimented his captain, Nitish Rana, for consistently supporting him.
“You are extremely welcome. Nitish wanted me to challenge them on the longer side of the boundary, so the strategy was straightforward. I did it, and having the captain’s support also contributed to my success. Use three variants and keep it straightforward this season.
After KKR defeated PBKS by five wickets at the storied Eden Gardens, Varun Chakravarthy told IPL broadcasters, “It’s nice, but we need to bowl better at home, and it’s tough circumstances.
“Small borders and a flat pitch. Thus, if we perform well here, we will perform well at the competition. Small boundaries and difficult bowling, as I have stated. The bowling to Dhawan will be the same. So, implementing the proper lines and lengths is crucial if you want to succeed, Chakravarthy said.
For KKR, Andre Russell and Rinku Singh prevail.
KKR was facing a lot of strain as they attempted to reach their 180-run target because they were frequently losing wickets. The T20 king Andre Russell, however, caused mayhem, scoring 42 runs off just 23 deliveries to help the home team escape a precarious situation. But despite Arshdeep Singh’s outstanding performance in the game’s final over, KKR felt the pressure. When Andre Russell was bowled in the sixth delivery, Rinku Singh was forced to take the squad home.
The Knight Riders eventually won their fifth game of the season thanks to a boundary from the man from Aligarh, moving them up to number five on the IPL Points Table while PBKS fell to number seven.
