The youngest player ever to be selected for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Auction shortlist is 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi of Bihar. When Vaibhav was four years old, his father Sanjeev saw how much he enjoyed cricket and constructed a little playing field in their backyard. He enrolled in a cricket academy in Samastipur at the age of nine, where his extraordinary talent soon became apparent.
With almost 400 runs in five games, the 12-year-old prodigy earned his debut for Bihar in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. His most noteworthy accomplishment occurred in September 2024 when he scored an incredible 104 off 62 balls while playing for India U-19 against Australia in a youth Test match in Chennai.
At the age of 12 years and 284 days, Vaibhav Suryavanshi made history in January 2024 by becoming the second-youngest player to ever play for Bihar in a Ranji Trophy match.
He participated in important competitions that served as a selection platform for the 2024 ICC U-19 World Cup, earning berths in both the India A and India B U-19 teams.
A significant milestone has been reached with the teenager’s inclusion in the IPL 2025 auction list, where he is listed as the 491st name in the uncapped batter category. With 100 runs in 10 innings and a peak score of 41, his first-class figures would appear respectable.
Vaibhav has secured a spot in the India Under-19 team for the 2024 Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Under-19 Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates because to his steady performances.
