The USA Cricket (USAC) issued a statement on June 7 in response to pervasive rumours of relocating the Twenty20 World Cup 2024 from the West Indies and the United States. The cricket authority stated that the success of Major League Cricket (MLC) will dispel any lingering doubts about the nation’s inadequate cricket infrastructure.
A USAC representative stated that they have not discussed relocating the venue with the ICC (International Cricket Council). He added that they are doing their best to prepare the necessary infrastructure for the T20 World Cup 2024 in June, which is scheduled to be played.
“In this respect, we have had no discussions with the ICC. We are putting forth our utmost effort to prepare the necessary infrastructure for the upcoming T20 World Cup. A USA Cricket administrator was quoted by NDTV as saying, “Concerns about makeshift venues, etc. are natural given that the United States does not regularly host cricketing events, but we have Major League Cricket coming up and a successful hosting of the T20 tournament will alleviate a lot of those concerns.”
From July 13 to July 30, the inaugural Major League Cricket T20 will be played. Six teams will compete in the tournament, with matches scheduled to take place at Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas. Numerous international cricket superstars, such as England’s Jason Roy, Australia’s Adam Zampa, Matthew Wade, Marcus Stoinis, and Portugal’s Moises Henriques, will compete in the competition.
There was no discussion regarding the relocation of the T20 World Cup 2024 to the ICC.
In the meantime, an ICC representative verified that there are no plans to relocate the 2024 T20 World Cup. In addition, he disclosed that the anticipated venues for the colossal event will be announced shortly. In addition, he clarified that the tournament would proceed as intended.
“No ICC forum has discussed relocating the T20 World Cup 2024 from the West Indies and the United States. A member of the ICC Board was quoted by NDTV as saying, “It (the tournament) will proceed and a venue announcement will be forthcoming.”
Notably, India has played some of its international matches against the West Indies at Central Broward Park in Lauderhill, Florida.
Oakland, Florida, and Los Angeles are among the cities recommended by the ICC Venue Inspection Committee as potential T20 World Cup host cities. Considering the audience support for both teams, India vs. Pakistan will be played in the United States and not the West Indies, according to reports.
