Umran Malik has come a long way from his days as a net bowler for the Sunrisers Hyderabad to his current role as an ODI and T20 international cricket player for India.
During the first Twenty20 international match against Sri Lanka, which took place on Tuesday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the pace sensation clocked an astonishing bowling speed of 155 kilometres per hour. He gained everyone’s attention with his performances in the previous two editions of the Indian Premier League.
According to reports, it was the fastest delivery ever made by an Indian player in a Twenty20 competition.
Dasun Shanaka, the captain of the Sri Lankan team, was batting on 45 off 27 balls when Umran bowled a delivery that was 155 kilometres per hour and got him out.
Shanaka was forced to make a timing error because of Umran’s blistering speed, and as a result, the ball went straight to Yuzvendra Chahal, who was able to make a simple catch in the extra cover region.
Umran was successful in removing Charith Asalanka from the game, bringing his final tally for his quota of four overs to an outstanding 2 for 27.
In the first game of the series, India defeated Sri Lanka by a score of two runs to take the lead in the series. India’s debutant pacer Shivam Mavi led an outstanding bowling performance with his four wickets.
Mavi had a return of 4-22 to help the home team bowl Sri Lanka out for 160 runs while chasing a victory target of 163. As a result, the Indians took a 1-0 lead in the three-game series in Mumbai.
Left-arm spinner Axar Patel kept his cool during a tight final over when Sri Lanka needed 13 runs to win and Chamika Karunaratne gave India a scare with his unbeaten 23. Patel’s performance helped India avoid defeat.
Karunaratne was left disappointed after the last over, which saw two run outs and began with a wide. The over ended with two run outs, which made India ecstatic.
