India defeated the Netherlands by 160 runs in Match 45 on Sunday, November 12 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, continuing their undefeated streak in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Choosing to bat first, India amassed a massive 410/4 in the 50 overs given, with centuries from KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. Teja Nidamanuru was the only player in the Netherlands’ response to be dismissed for 250 in 47.5 overs.
Wesley Barresi (4 off 5) lost the opening over for the Netherlands, indicating a poor start to their chase. Following the early wicket, a 61-run partnership between Max O’Dowd (30 off 42) and Colin Ackerman (35 off 32) consolidated the innings. Virat Kohli defeated Captain Scott Edwards (17 off 30) in the 25th over thanks to their partnership between India’s spin twins, Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja.
Sybrand Engelbrecht (45 off 80) and Teja Nidamanuru (54 off 39) demonstrated some Dutch tenacity, while Virat Kohli removes Scott Edwards off his bowling. Anushka Sharma goes bonkers in the stands. However, Nidamanuru’s removal by skipper Rohit Sharma in the 48th over put an end to the Dutch innings, which meant that the pair couldn’t last for very long.
After adding 100 runs for the first wicket off 71 balls earlier in the day, Indian openers Rohit Sharma (61 off 54) and Shubman Gill (51 off 32) gave their side the perfect start. Virat Kohli entered the game at number three following their dismissals and hit a spectacular half-century (51 off 56) against Roelof van der Merwe before losing his stumps.
Fastest Indian century was achieved by KL Rahul.
After Kohli was removed from the game, KL Rahul went to the crease to join Shreyas Iyer, and the two played a huge partnership of 208 runs for the fourth wicket off 127 balls. Iyer was undefeated at 128* off 94 balls, but Rahul (102 off 64) became the fastest hundred by an Indian in ODI World Cup history in just 62 balls. India achieved their second-highest ODI World Cup score ever thanks to their outstanding stand.

Not easy to follow the Rohit & Gill act but that’s the kind of serious talent we are talking about in this Indian team. Shreyas Iyer & K L Rahul eventually became the main act!

64 ball 102. Well played, KLR 👏👏
Given a choice, KL Rahul would love to open in ODI. Given a choice…he might not want to don the keeping gloves too. But he understands that it isn’t about him…it about what the team wants. And he must adapt his game to it.
