Haris Rauf, a fast bowler, is currently considered to be one of Pakistan’s top bowlers. The cricket player, who is now 29 years old and once worked as a net bowler, has demonstrated significant growth over the course of his career and has firmly established himself as a member of the Pakistan side across all three forms.
Rauf has taken 29 wickets in just 16 One-Day International matches since making his ODI debut in 2020. In Twenty20 Internationals, he has competed in 57 matches and taken 72 wickets.
During a recent segment of the Geo News show titled “Hasna Mana Hai” that was shown in Pakistan, the pacer discussed how he worked on his diet to boost his weight and stated that eggs are his favourite food.
“I consume 24 eggs every single day. Aquib Javed, a former bowler for Pakistan who is now a coach, had provided me with the diet plan, which consisted of eating eight eggs for breakfast, eight eggs for lunch, and eight eggs for dinner.
When I initially walked into the room where the cricket academy was located, there were several boxes full of eggs already there. Rauf stated on the broadcast that he had the impression that he had arrived at a chicken coop.
“At the time, I weighed 72 kilogrammes, and Aquib bhai advised me that the appropriate weight for someone of my height would be between 82 and 83 kilogrammes. I am currently 82 kgs,” he continued.
The fast bowler was also able to shed light on how former India coach Ravi Shastri respected his attempts to make the transition from being a net bowler to a key part of Team Pakistan.
“Aksar unse (Ravi Shastri) mulakat hoti hai, wo kehte hai ‘yaar ek net bowler jaise tum hamare paas aye they…
aur jis tarah tum world me bowling kar rahey hi tumhara ek naam hai.
Jab hum tumko dekhte hai to hume kafi khushi milti hai’. To unhe sara pata hai jaise Virat bhai bhi kafi appreciate karte hai ki ek time tum net bowler bhi they. (Every time I see Shastri, he tells me that I used to be a net bowler, but that I’ve since become famous and established a reputation for myself in the world.
Rauf remarked, “So, he is aware of my background, and it appears that he is pleased to meet me.”
Rauf is now travelling with the Pakistani team, which is in the midst of preparing for the first one-day international (ODI) of the three-game series against New Zealand in Karachi.
