On Monday, April 1, Trent Boult had a fantastic performance at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, crushing the Mumbai Indians’ top order with the new ball. His amazing spell of 3/22 from four overs earned him the Player of the Match award.
Boult gave his side a fantastic start by dismissing Rohit Sharma and Naman Dhir off the final two deliveries of the first over, following Sanju Samson’s vital toss victory for the Rajasthan Royals and his decision to field first. The pacer from New Zealand defeated Dewald Brevis on the second ball of his second over. With Boult breathing fire, all three batsmen were out for golden ducks.
Ultimately, the left-arm speedster recorded a three-for-three finish. The early setbacks were too much for the Mumbai Indians, who were finally bowled out for 125/9 in their 20 overs. With six wickets and 27 balls remaining, the Royals were able to chase down the meagre mark as Riyan Parag hit his second half-century of the year.
Shane Watson, the renowned Australian all-round player, praised Boult for his accuracy from the first ball. The former added that as Boult ages, he is becoming younger.
“Trent Boult is incredibly precise.
In the first over, he seldom fails to execute with the new ball. In the middle of the innings, Shane Watson commented on Jio Cinema, “He hits the ground, sprinting, so accurate.”
“When it comes to swinging back in, Ball is an unstoppable weapon who keeps doing it. He seems to be growing younger as he gets older. Shane Watson remarked, “He is an asset to the Rajasthan Royals because he is so energetic and accurate from ball one.”

In the IPL’s powerplay overs, Boult currently has 55 wickets. In the tournament’s history, the only players with more powerplay wickets than the New Zealander are Bhuvneshwar Kumar (61) and Deepak Chahar (56).
The Royals now have six points from three games, which has vaulted them to the top of the standings after this victory. Mumbai, on the other hand, has lost three games in a row and is still at the bottom of the table.
