Mohammad Shami and Mohammed Siraj, two fast bowlers for Team India, helped the team to a resounding victory over New Zealand in the second one-day international that was played on Saturday.
The game was won by the hosts by an 8-wicket margin over New Zealand, giving them an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-game series.
After making the decision to bowl first, the team captained by Rohit Sharma dismissed the opposition for 108 runs with the help of a three-wicket haul from Mohammad Shami.
On the other hand, Siraj recorded outstanding statistics, recording 1/10 in 6 overs. Later on, Team India was able to successfully chase down the goal in just 20.1 overs with eight wickets in hand with to the contributions of Rohit (51 runs) and Shubman Gill (40 runs, including one not out).
Tom Latham, the captain of the New Zealand cricket team, addressed the media after the team’s loss and lauded Shami and Siraj, referring to them as “great bowlers” who did not allow the visitors a single opportunity to win the match.
“They were both relentless in terms of the lines and lengths they bowled, and they offered us nothing to score from,” added Latham. “Anytime that Siraj and Shami are in the side – they’re obviously strong bowlers.”
“Regrettably for us, it was their day,” he continued, “and unfortunately for them, it was their day.” “Fortunately for them, it was their day and unfortunately for us, we weren’t able to absorb enough pressure and put that back on them.”
In the second one-day international match, which took place at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur, the Indian bowlers unleashed their fury to skittle out the New Zealand visitors for 108 runs. This came after the Indian bowlers were subjected to a severe assault at the tail end of the New Zealand chase in the first ODI.
The Indian new ball bowlers took advantage of the favourable bowling conditions that were on offer by bowling at an extremely high rate on a surface that had a healthy grass cover.
Mohammad Shami was the most destructive bowler, taking three wickets in the match. Both Hardik Pandya and Washington Sundar were responsible for taking two wickets. During this time, Siraj, Kuldeep, and Shardul all took one wicket apiece.
