On April 5, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals (RR), Sanju Samson, joked about how he felt after a thrilling game against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). The IPL 2023 runner-up fell to Shikhar Dhawan’s PBKS by five runs in their second game. But Rajasthan had a great start to their IPL season by beating Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Sanju Samson won the toss and told Dhawan and the rest of his team to bat first at Barsapara’s new ACA Stadium, which is part of the IPL. The RR bowlers had a hard time as PBKS put up a huge score of 197 with only four wickets lost in 20 overs. RR, on the other hand, could only score 192 runs in the time allotted, which meant they fell just short of the goal.
On Thursday, Samson posted a picture of himself and PBKS captain Dhawan standing together after the game on Twitter. Along with the picture, he wrote a short note about how many times both teams have come close to winning over the years.
“Paaji, itne tight matches kyun?” This means, “Big Brother, why do our matches always end up so close?” his picture said.
Samson explains why the batting order changed during RR vs. PBKS.
Many people were surprised when RR put Ravichandran Ashwin and Yashasvi Jaiswal at the top of the order and Jos Buttler at No. 3. But Sanju Samson tried to explain why RR was making so many changes to their batting order. Also, he said that RR would be better prepared for the next game.
“I thought it was smart that we stopped them at 197. Jos wasn’t fully fit because he hurt his finger when he caught the ball, and Padikkal was kept in the middle order so he could deal with their two spinners in the middle overs, “Sanju Samson said.
“I thought the dew would come in the second inning, but it was clear from the start that it was there. We need to be better prepared for such things in the next game,” he said.
