On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the ‘terrific’ performance of India U19 skipper Shafali Verma in the present Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup. The India opener has blasted five straight fours and struck a six on the penultimate ball of the over, scoring 26 runs in one over.
Video conferencing allowed Prime Minister Modi to kick off the second phase of the Saansad Khel Mahakumbh 2022-23 that is being organised in the Basti district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.
Harish Dwivedi, who is a member of the Lok Sabha representing Basti, has been responsible for organising the Saansad Khel Mahakumbh in the Basti district since 2021, as stated by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

In just one over, Shafali scored 26 runs by hitting one six and five successive fours, bringing her total for the over to a total of 26. This kind of brilliance can be found in every nook and cranny of India “While addressing the Saansad Khel Mahakumbh via video conference, Prime Minister Modi made the following statement.
“Young athletes who have strong performances in the Saansad Khel Mahakumbh are being considered for further training at the various training centres run by the Sports Authority of India. It will be to the advantage of the country’s young population. Over 40,000 children and teenagers are taking part in this Mahakumbh “PM said.
In total, there will be two stages to the organisation of the Saansad Khel Mahakumbh 2022-23. The Khel Mahakumbh was organised in two phases: the first phase took place from December 10 to December 16, 2022, and the second phase is scheduled to take place from January 18 to January 28, 2023.
“The Khel Mahakumbh hosts a variety of contests for both indoor and outdoor sports. These include wrestling, kabaddi, kho kho, basketball, football, hockey, volleyball, handball, chess, carrom, badminton, table tennis, and many more. During the Khel Mahakumbh, in addition to these competitions, others like those for painting, writing essays, and producing rangoli will also take place “according to a statement released by the PMO.
The Khel Mahakumbh is an innovative programme that gives the young people of District Basti and the surrounding areas the chance to exhibit their sporting potential and a stage on which to do so, as well as the motivation to pursue a career in a sporting-related field.
It also makes an effort to instil in the younger generation of the region a sense of discipline, collaboration, healthy competition, self-confidence, and nationalism.
Group D is currently being led by India, who has a perfect record of two victories and zero losses, giving them a grand total of four points.
Shafali has also been a leader for the Indian batting lineup, scoring a total of 123 runs in two matches for an average of 61.50, including one half-century and the highest individual score of 78. She has done this by averaging 61.50 runs each game. Her success rate is an astounding 246,00 percent.
