This is inexcusable and could cost India the match,’ yells Sunil Gavaskar as Ravindra Jadeja delivers multiple no-balls against Australia.

This is inexcusable and could cost India the match,' yells Sunil Gavaskar as Ravindra Jadeja delivers multiple no-balls against Australia.

In the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, most of Ravindra Jadeja’s wicket-taking deliveries have been ruled no-balls, much to the dismay of legendary India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar.

Ravindra Jadeja has already bowled eight no-balls in this series, with the most recent one occurring on Day 1 of the third Test. The eighth no-ball cost India dearly, as it could have resulted in the dismissal of the world’s best Test batsman, Marnus Labuschagne.

“This is inadmissible. He has won several man-of-the-match honours, yet the spinner has not bowled a single ball. I believe Paras Mhambrey must sit with him and instruct him to bowl from behind. This might be costly for India,” the 73-year-old stated on Star Sports.
Gavaskar wants India’s bowling coach to collaborate closely with Jadeja to tackle the problem.
The former captain of India claimed that no-balls at such key moments were incredibly harmful to any side. In addition, when a bowler takes a wicket and realises it was a no-ball, it is quite disheartening. What should have been a costly dismissal of one of the top Test bats at the moment ended up granting him a life and allowing him to capitalise on his gifted opportunity.

Gavaskar believed it was time for the Indian bowling coach, Paras Mhambrey, to have a serious discussion with Ravindra Jadeja and work on the 34-year-count old’s of steps before bowling. Labuschagne was dismissed by Jadeja at the age of 31, but by that time, he had already provided Australia with the momentum enough to produce a respectable total.

After electing to bat first, India performed poorly, as they were dismissed for a meagre 109 runs. Matt Kuhnemann scored his first five-wicket haul in his second Test match. Nathan Lyon, on the other hand, added three more international wickets to his collection of over 500.
