Theunis de Bruyn, a batter for South Africa, is going to miss the third and final test match against Australia because he is going to return home to South Africa to be there for the birth of his first child.
The 30-year-old took Rassie van der Dussen’s spot in the lineup for the Boxing Day Test after being called up to the squad. In South Africa’s loss to Australia in Melbourne, de Bruyn batted third and finished with scores of 12 and 28. The loss was by an innings and 182 runs.
During the second innings of the match, the Australian quick Mitchell Starc cautioned him for backing up at the non-end, striker’s which led to him making headlines once again.

Due to De Bruyn’s unavailability, either Henrich Klaasen, the big-hitting reserve wicketkeeper who has only played one Test, or Rassie van der Dussen may be given a chance to return to the starting XI. Both players have only played one Test between them.
The South African batting lineup has been inconsistent throughout this series. In the two tests that have been played thus far, the away team has been bowled out for scores of 152, 99, 189, and 204 respectively.
South Africa is now down 0-2 in the three-game series.
The Proteas had previously held the third spot in the race for the World Test Championship, but after suffering consecutive defeats, they have now fallen to the fourth spot, behind Australia, India, and Sri Lanka.
On January 4, this location will play host to the third test match between the two teams.
