The Major League Cricket (MLC) Washington Freedom team in the United States of America (USA) has extended coaching offers to legendary cricketer Ricky Ponting.
In addition to serving as head coach of the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the 49-year-old occasionally provides commentary. The former cricket player acknowledged the recent development in the interim but stated that he has not made a choice yet.
Ricky Ponting will probably serve as a pundit for the forthcoming T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to start on June 1, following the end of the Indian Premier League in May. After that, the two-time World Cup-winning captain will be free to take on the coaching post, although that would mean traveling far from home.
Ponting is still indecisive but will decide as quickly as possible, keeping that in mind. Several conversations have taken place. I’ve had some preliminary conversations, but I haven’t committed to anything yet. I can work with the time of year that the MLC is on.
Ponting told SEN 1170, “I have a few weeks left before the IPL, which leads into the T20 World Cup, and the MLC is right after the World Cup.”
“I could be able to take another significant year off if I so want. I simply have certain things to get through. I’ve enjoyed my experience at the IPL over the last six or seven years, and I like the coaching side of things,” he continued.
I love working with the world’s top players since the game is in my blood. Ricky Ponting
When Ponting looked back on his coaching career to date, he reflected on how much he enjoyed working with the world’s finest players and recalled his time as the Australian team’s coach, Justin Langer. During a few tours, I was able to assist the Australian squad under Justin Langer’s coaching.
I adore working with the world’s finest players and trying to find ways to improve them, since the game is in my blood. all in the hopes that we might pick up a few victories along the way,” he said.
