As India and Pakistan prepare to face off in the third match of the competition, the Asia Cup 2023 is preparing for its most eagerly awaited showdown. There have been many exciting encounters as a result of both sides’ repeated confrontations over the years.
In each of the last five ODIs and tournament matches between India and Pakistan, one player has distinguished himself or herself. Let’s continue the theme by taking a look at the various Player of the Match awards from the previous five Ind-Pak games.
In the 2017 Champions Trophy, when India faced Pakistan, star all-rounder Yuvraj Singh won Player of the Match. In addition, Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman won Player of the Match in the tournament’s finale.
Moving forward, when both teams competed in the 2018 Asia Cup, renowned bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar was named Player of the Match. Shikhar Dhawan, who started the game, also received player of the encounter honors in the third Asia Cup 2018 Super Four encounter.
The most recent winner of Player of the Match in an India-Pakistan One-Day International was Indian opener Rohit Sharma, who excelled and took home the prize at the 2019 World Cup.
