According to various sources, the new selection committee for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would most likely be constituted in January of the following year.
According to the sources, the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) of the board, which is made up of former players Ashok Malhotra, Jatin Paranjpe, and Sulakshana Mail, is set to meet on December 30 in order to begin the process of appointing members for the new selection committee.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) fired the National Selection Committee back in November, and they have since been accepting new applications. Chetan Sharma was the chairman of the committee.
In addition to Sharma, who served as chief selector, the selection committee was made up of individuals such as Sunil Joshi, Harvinder Singh, and Debashish Mohanty.
Those interested in applying for the posts were given the qualifications necessary to do so in a statement that was issued by the country’s highest governing body for cricket.
According to the official statement released by the BCCI, the applicant “should have played a minimum of 7 Test matches or 30 First Class matches, or 10 ODI and 20 First Class matches.”
“Should have retired from the game at least 5 years ago,” the press release stated. “No person who has been a member of any Cricket Committee (as defined in the rules and regulations of BCCI) for a total of 5 years shall be eligible to be a member of the Men’s Selection Committee,” the release continued. “Should have retired from the game at least 5 years ago.”
The submission of applications was required to be completed by the 28th of November in 2022.
The decision was made after India suffered a humiliating loss to England by ten wickets in the semifinal of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2022, which was held in Australia.
