The National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru will have VVS Laxman, a former Indian batter, in charge for an additional year or more. This September was the last month of his original three-year contract.
Due to his NCA responsibilities, VVS Laxman is no longer able to pursue his dream of being an IPL head coach, although he was being courted by one.
He is expected to receive support from his group of coaches, which includes three legendary figures from Indian domestic cricket: Hrishikesh Kanitkar, Sairaj Bahutule, and Shitanshu Kotak.
The news that VVS Laxman contract is being extended coincides with the launch of a brand-new, cutting-edge NCA campus on the outskirts of Bengaluru, the ground for which was cleared in January 2022—14 years after the Karnataka government approved the land for a 99-year lease.
Now in its last phases of construction, the NCA is thought to have at least 100 pitches, 45-pitches indoors, three international-sized grounds, a state-of-the-art rehab centre, housing options, Olympic-sized pools, and a number of other attractions. It’s probably going to start working in early 2019.
Building on the extensive India A tour schedule that Rahul Dravid’s administration left behind would be one of Laxman’s tasks. But recently, a packed international calendar has hindered it.

In his first three years at the NCA, Laxman has strengthened the established procedures for player recovery, injury management, coaching programs, and creating plans for women’s, age-group, and senior cricket teams.
