After finishing the year 2022 with a century to his name, Virat Kohli started the year 2023 with another century by scoring in back-to-back one-day internationals. This brought his total for the year to two.
In the first one-day international encounter of the series against Sri Lanka, which took place in Guwahati, he scored his 45th ODI century, and after the play, he joined up with Suryakumar Yadav for a post-match interview.
Before beginning the question and answer session with Kohli, Suryakumar took a moment to express his appreciation for the chance he was given to speak with the iconic Indian batter on this momentous day.
In a video that was made available on the BCCI’s website, Suryakumar discussed how Kohli began the new year picking up right where he had left off in 2022.
It wasn’t too long ago that Kohli was the one who conducted the interview with Suryakumar, but suddenly the roles were reversed.
“The interview with you will take place once the Asia Cup has concluded. Naye saal mein, merko opportunity mil raha hai aapka interview lene ka. You had interviewed me during the Asia Cup, and now, in this brand-new year, I am getting the chance to interview you. Thank you very much for this opportunity. I am grateful to whoever it was that provided me with this opportunity “In the video, Suryakumar is heard saying.
Kohli also opened up about his rough patch later on in the film, indicating that he rediscovered his passion for the game after returning from a break in the lead-up to the Asia Cup in 2017. Kohli’s comments were included in the video.
“After I had some time to decompress following the Asia Cup, I found that I was able to appreciate practise more. I started enjoying training again.
In this manner, I have always competed in my cricket matches. What I will say is that if you feel a little bit desperate, you should always take two steps back rather than pushing more and more. This is what I will advise. Because once you do that, things will start to move on without you “explained Kohli.
After scoring his 45th century in one-day internationals (ODIs) during the first match of a three-match series against Sri Lanka, Kohli achieved new heights in his cricketing career. The batsman, who is 33 years old, also achieved his 20th century in one-day internationals, tying Sachin Tendulkar’s record.
