The inaugural encounter of the forthcoming Major League Cricket MLC will be played in Dallas, Texas. Six days will be spent in Texas before the tournament moves to Morrisville, North Carolina. It will return to Dallas for the competition’s final stage. The tournament will take place between July 13 and July 30.
Notably, Morrisville frequently hosts Minor League (MLC) matches; therefore, the pitch appears prepared to hold the first-ever franchise-based tournament in the United States. Six teams will compete for the championship during the inaugural season. Four of the six teams are affiliated with the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The team in the MLC will be known as the Los Angeles Knight Riders. The Kolkata Knight Riders were the first Indian franchise to invest in American cricket. Similarly, the franchise owned by the Chennai Super Kings will be known as the Texas Super Kings, the franchise owned by the Mumbai Indians will be known as MI New York, and the franchise owned by the Delhi Capitals will be known as the Seattle Orcas. The Texas Super Kings will host the Los Angeles Knight Riders in the competition’s initial match.
The Washington Freedom and San Francisco Unicorns are the only remaining franchises. Both of these organisations have Indian stakeholders, which is intriguing. Meanwhile, the tournament is scheduled to commence at Grand Prairie Stadium on July 13. Additionally, the playoffs will be contested on the same pitch, with the finals taking place on July 30.
